Electrical System Design Engineer – Huntsville, AL
Leidos Defense Systems, Electrical Systems Department seeks a talented Electrical System Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team in Huntsville, AL, creating solutions for complex engineering challenges.
Primary Responsibilities- System level electrical architecture and design
- Creation of block diagrams, electrical system requirements, cable specifications, and cable drawings
- Component selection and derating activities
- New hardware design verification testing
- Support system level integration activities
- Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Candidate must have 12+ years of experience in hardware system design and test from architecture through implementation or 10+ years with MS degree.
- Candidate must have experience with technical problem solving and root cause analysis.
- Candidate must be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.
- Candidate must have the ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system block diagrams.
- Candidate must have cable design experience.
- Candidate must have proven understanding of fundamental circuits and circuit components.
- Candidate must have hands‑on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods.
- Candidate must be a self‑starter with the ability to work independently.
- Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to Huntsville – North Alabama, AL area.
- Candidate must possess or be able to obtain SECRET clearance and maintain that clearance.
- Experience with leading small to mid‑sized technical teams.
- Familiarity with IPC/WHMA‑A‑620 class 3 and IPC J‑STD‑001 Standards.
- Electrical design for military hardware or aerospace systems.
- Experience supporting cable production.
- Experience with high power applications.
- Familiarity with AS50881 NASA Derating Standard.
