Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a talented Senior Electrical Engineer
- Hardware Design to join our team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
The Electrical Systems Department is a design-focused group of engineers specializing in advanced hardware-based solutions. The selected candidate will be expected to execute in a fast-paced, small team environment through all phases of the product life cycle from concept development and detailed design through manufacturing, qualification testing, and post-delivery support. The engineer will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and testing printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) including power supply, mixed-signal, FPGA, and microcontroller designs.
Additional skills such as signal integrity analysis, power distribution network design, high-speed digital (10 GigE+) design, RF design, or basic VHDL proficiency are a plus.
With a product focus, the individual is also expected to actively partner with other engineers, project managers, technicians, and the customer to develop solutions that adhere to a diverse set of requirements. Additionally, the engineer will support resolution of technical issues that are discovered during the manufacture and test of deliverable products. This will include troubleshooting board-level issues, assessing failures for root cause, and identifying corrective actions.

- Candidate must have 8+ years experience in electronics design and test from architecture through implementation
- Candidate must have advanced knowledge of digital/analog/mixed signal electronics, components, and interface/communication standards
- Candidate must have expertise in digital PCB design and troubleshooting including embedded processor, microcontroller, or FPGA-based designs
- Candidate must have proven experience in design, test, troubleshooting, and manufacture of complex multi-layer electronic circuit card assemblies
- Candidate must have hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods
- Candidate must have experience with technical problem solving and root cause analysis
- Candidate must demonstrate an ability to decompose system-level considerations (i.e. requirements) to lower design levels
- Candidate must have the ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system block diagrams
- Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment
