Electrical System Design Engineer
Leidos' Defense Systems, Electrical Systems Department is seeking a talented Electrical System Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team to create unique solutions to complex engineering challenges in our Huntsville, AL location. The ideal candidate will thrive in a learning environment that encourages leadership and technical growth.
The Electrical Systems Department is a design-focused group of engineers specializing in advanced hardware-based solutions. As a technical contributor, the individual will support a variety of programs to develop electronic assemblies integrated into a diverse range of aerospace and military systems including manned/unmanned ground/air vehicles, missiles, defensive radars, and space systems.
Primary Responsibilities
- System level electrical architecture and design
- Creation of block diagrams, electrical system requirements, cable specifications, and cable drawings
- Component selection and derating activities
- New hardware design verification testing
- Support system level integration activities
Basic Qualifications
- Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Candidate must have 2+ years of experience in hardware system design and test from architecture through implementation or MS degree.
- Candidate must have experience with technical problem solving and root cause analysis
- Candidate must be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment
- Candidate must have the ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system block diagrams.
- Candidate must have cable design experience
- Candidate must have proven understanding of fundamental circuits and circuit components
- Candidate must have hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods.
- Candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently
- Candidates must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with leading small to mid-sized technical teams.
- Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 class 3 and IPC J-STD-001 Standards.
- Electrical design for military hardware or aerospace systems
- Experience supporting cable production
- Experience with high power applications
