The Design Technician role at Magnolia River is a full‑time, hybrid position based in Huntsville, AL. The Design Technician will produce and revise technical drawings and design documents to support engineering projects for utility and pipeline clients. Daily responsibilities include using Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) tools to create detailed plans, layouts, and schematics under the direction of engineering staff. The role involves coordinating with engineers and project managers to gather requirements, incorporate design changes, and ensure drawings meet project standards and client specifications.
The Design Technician will also assist with documentation control, maintain accurate project files, and support quality checks to confirm that designs comply with safety, regulatory, and industry requirements. Collaboration, attention to detail, and adherence to project timelines are essential.
- Strong technical drawing skills, including the ability to read, interpret, and produce detailed engineering drawings and schematics.
- Proficiency in Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) software and related design tools used for utility, pipeline, or infrastructure projects.
- Foundational knowledge in mechanical engineering principles relevant to utility or pipeline design.
- Foundational knowledge in electrical engineering concepts, such as power distribution, controls, or related systems.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with engineers, project managers, and other team members and documenting design decisions clearly.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a project‑driven environment.
- Associate degree or technical diploma in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Experience in utility, pipeline, or infrastructure projects and familiarity with industry standards or regulations is beneficial.
