This position supports spacecraft, missile, hypersonic, or other advanced aerospace platforms operating in extreme and highly dynamic environments. If you're looking for ownership, influence, and the opportunity to solve complex, high-consequence engineering challenges — this role is built for you. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will oversee the end-to-end mechanical design of a complex missile system under development. This will include management of mechanical interfaces, resolution of mechanical integration issues through coordination between suppliers and internal design teams through all phases of the lifecycle.
Day to day activities will include technical leadership of a multi site team, planning future activities, briefing leadership on progress and challenges, and driving integrated technical solutions to closure.
Desired skills:
- Creo and CAD data management (EPDM) experience
- Knowledge of composite structure design and fabrication
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and documentation
- Experience with test methods, planning and execution
- Experience working with other LM operating units
- Experience working with suppliers
- Functions well in a creative, high-tempo, collaborative, cross-functional, dynamic, and multi-disciplinary environment
- Familiarity with LM Space processes, procedures, and tools (including EPDM/Windchill) - Excellent communication skills
- Experience with model-based definition (Data Set Rating
6) - Highly proficient with Creo Parametric
- Experience supporting production of missile or spacecraft hardware
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast changing environments, quickly adjusting to evolving requirements, shifting priorities, and dynamic project schedules while maintaining high quality deliverables.
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills; capable of articulating complex technical concepts clearly. Proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with internal teams and external customers, ensuring alignment and successful project outcomes.
- Minimum 3 years of full time professional engineering experience in a mechanical or aerospace environment.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related technical field or equivalent hands on experience
- Active DoD Secret clearance
