Avionics, Instruments and GNC Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Responsible for instrumentation and sensors for rocket engine systems
• Provide instrumentation solutions for rocket engines
• Deliver qualified instrumentation solutions that meet system engineering and quality system requirements
• Create sensor and instrumentation engineering drawings, specifications and procedures
• Work closely with sensor vendors to develop sensors that can perform to requirements
• Perform sensor acceptance testing in electronics lab and environmental test lab environments
• Oversee test campaigns at vendors
• Troubleshoot and debug sensor/instrumentation anomalies in an avionics and engine component development environment
• Identify root cause failure modes using fault tree and fishbone methodologies and formally document findings
• Document sensor requirements and specifications for new products

• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or Physics with electrical experience
• 2+ years’ experience designing, testing, calibrating of sensors & instrumentation
• Knowledge of the theory of operation of sensors for various measurement applications (pressure, temperature, displacement, force, acceleration, etc.)
• Experience developing acceptance and qualification test plans utilizing pressure controllers, environmental chambers, shock/vibration tables, etc.
• Experience with data anomaly review, sensor system troubleshooting, and root cause analysis in a lab or test environment
• Excellent presentation skills
