Job Summary

Position develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls; coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. The role may provide guidance, direction, and leadership for several lower graded engineering and technical employees. Assignments require innovation and devising new design or testing techniques.

Responsibilities
  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, process flows, and other information to understand methods and activities.
  • Support production and provide technical knowledge for the successful completion of products in compliance with engineering drawings and quality standards.
  • Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements that enhance manufacturing, quality, and reduce costs.
  • Consult with management, engineering, and staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production.
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods.
  • Specify and/or design tooling fixtures, special machinery, and equipment to facilitate manufacture of parts and assemblies.
  • Perform failure analysis to determine root cause and apply appropriate problem‑solving methods.
  • Interface with design engineering on product designs.
  • Maintain daily availability, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a four‑year college or university in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience:

    Minimum 5 years in manufacturing engineering or related field.
  • Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100, Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen principles.
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, project‑management, and technical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally about 10% of the time.
  • U.S. citizenship with ability to attain/maintain a government security clearance.
