Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Producibility Manufacturing Expert to serve as a critical link between design engineering and manufacturing operations. The role ensures products are designed for manufacturability, cost‑effectiveness, and quality while meeting all requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
Conduct comprehensive producibility assessments of product designs during all phases of development.
Collaborate with design engineers to optimize designs for manufacturing efficiency, cost reduction, and quality improvement.
Identify and resolve potential manufacturing challenges before they impact production schedules or costs.
Provide detailed feedback on material selection, tolerances, assembly methods, and process capabilities. - Manufacturing Process Development & Optimization
Develop, document, and implement manufacturing processes, procedures, and work instructions.
Analyze existing processes and identify improvement opportunities.
Recommend tooling, fixtures, equipment, and facility modifications.
Establish process parameters and ensure repeatability and control. - Cost & Quality Management
Perform cost analyses and identify cost‑reduction opportunities.
Work with suppliers and vendors to assess capabilities.
Support make‑vs‑buy decisions.
Develop inspection criteria with QA for acceptance standards. - Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Serve as manufacturing SME in design reviews and product development meetings.
Partner with engineering, quality, supply chain, and production teams for seamless transitions.
Communicate manufacturing constraints to stakeholders.
Support NPI activities from concept through ramp‑up. - Risk Management & Problem Solving
Identify and assess manufacturing risks.
Lead root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
Develop mitigation strategies and support continuous improvement using lean principles. - Documentation & Compliance
Create and maintain manufacturing plans, process documentation, and technical reports.
Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Support configuration management activities related to manufacturing processes.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field. - Ph.D. with minimum 4 years of experience; MS with at least 8 years; BS with 10‑15 years.
- Hands‑on manufacturing engineering experience (10 years preferred).
- Proven track record in producibility analysis and design for manufacturability.
- Experience with manufacturing processes: machining, sheet metal, composites, welding, assembly.
- Supporting new product development and production ramp‑up activities.
- Must be a US citizen and have a STAR .
- Master’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Manufacturing Engineer or Six Sigma Black Belt.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or highly regulated industries.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as AS9100, ISO 9001, NASA standards.
- Experience with manufacturing simulation software and digital manufacturing tools.
- Knowledge of supply chain management and procurement.
- Experience mentoring or leading technical teams.
Work Environment:
Office setting, requires clear communication, domestic travel (5%), computer usage, and occasional use of stairs/elevators. Physical requirements include extended periods of sitting and computer work. Attendance expected Monday‑Friday, 7:30‑4:30, with minimal overtime.
