Systems Engineer, Test Engineer
The Defense Systems group at Leidos currently is seeking a motivated Systems Integration Electrical Engineer to support our RF Systems Deployment & Sustainment team. This hands‑on role focuses on the integration, testing, and maintenance of advanced RF systems. The position includes a mix of lab/integration work and travel to customer sites for system deployment, upgrades, and field support. This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, versatile, and experienced engineer who enjoys building, debugging, and improving hardware systems.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Perform and lead system integration, build‑outs, cabling, and configuration of RF and supporting hardware.
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting, repair, and root‑cause analysis of electrical, mechanical, and system‑level issues.
- Travel to customer sites to support system deployments and upgrades.
- Use a variety of test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, network analyzers, etc.) and hand tools.
- Document integration and test results, generate technical reports, and provide feedback to improve designs and processes.
- Bachelor’s degree and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or a master’s degree with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience (degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or similar). Additional experience, education, or training may be considered.
- Requires a current DoD Top Secret clearance to be considered (U.S. Citizenship is required).
- Demonstrated hands‑on experience building, modifying, and troubleshooting complex hardware systems.
- Solid understanding of electrical circuits and RF fundamentals.
- Ability to read, interpret and create schematics, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Must be willing and able to travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations (up to 25%).
- Ability and willingness to work onsite in Huntsville Alabama.
- Experience with wideband RF systems.
- Strong background in hardware bench testing, lab environments, and field deployment/support.
- Familiarity with soldering and cable assembly.
- Proven problem‑solving skills and comfort working in dynamic environments with evolving requirements.
- Active DoD TS/SCI.
