Space Systems Requirements Engineer – Integration & V&V

Position Description

This candidate will provide systems engineering, requirements management and integration support to the MSFC Systems Design and Verification Branch (EV72) for the Space Reactor-1 Freedom (SR-1) Program and to the MSFC Systems Engineering and Integration Division (EV70). The candidate will coordinate and interface with multiple SR-1 engineering disciplines, system elements, cross-program elements, and customers, as well as participate in SR-1 reviews, meetings, working groups, task teams, and trade studies.

The candidate will provide support for the development and integration of systems engineering solutions of key systems engineering products including requirements specifications, support program/project deliverables and subsequent activities where these products are assessed and matured. The successful candidate will work with the SR-1 System element customers/partners from inception to deployment to ensure stakeholder needs are satisfied.

• Lead and/or support the development of SR-1 interface requirements and verification products and ensure compliance with these requirements during development, testing and evaluation of SR-1 sub-elements.
• Provide technical integration with other engineering disciplines, the SR-1 Program, and cross-program elements, including risk‑based insight/oversight through assessment of requirements and verification activities.
• Support the SR-1 Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) and Engineering Discipline Lead Engineers (EDLEs) to evaluate prime contractor deliverables, including assessments of element Detailed Verification Objectives and verification of allocated end‑item specification requirements.
• Support performing systems engineering tasks and assessments to support the SR-1 Program through reviews, meetings, working groups, trade studies and development of key systems engineering products to support program milestones.
• Support developing integrated schedules and other tracking mechanisms to manage the work and identify risks and opportunities.
• Support the implementation of Digital Engineering best practices, approaches, techniques, and tools.
• Support requirement Verification and Validation (V&V) activities including V&V planning, execution, coordination, and integration for system‑level requirements to assure design compliance.
• Communicate technical issues, risks, best practices and lessons‑learned related to products, technical positions, requirement management, and V&V practices and develop integrated schedules and other tracking mechanisms to manage systems engineering tasks.
• Identify, describe, and communicate potential risks related to the products, processes and interactions in the systems engineering processes and document them in the NASA Risk Management System.
