Systems Engineer, Test Engineer
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Inflight Interceptor Communications Data Terminal Product Engineer to join our team! In this role you will serve as a technical staff member of the IDT Product Team and will assist the Government in overseeing and evaluating the prime contractor’s development, production, integration, testing, and modernization of IDT hardware and software systems. Your primary goal is to ensure the reliability and mission readiness of the interfaces that communicate with Ground‑Based Interceptors (GBI) in flight.
WhatYou’ll Be Doing:
- Provide technical oversight and advisory support to the Government regarding contractor execution of IDT hardware design, RF subsystem development, antenna mechanics, and software updates.
- Review and analyze prime contractor engineering change proposals, technical drawings, interface control documents, and product specifications to provide technical recommendations to the Government.
- Assist the Government in coordinating and monitoring contractor efforts to integrate the IDT with other GMD elements, including GMD Fire Control (GFC), the GCN communication network, and more.
- Assist the Government in evaluating contractor test plans, observing hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HWIL) testing, and reviewing factory/site acceptance test results for IDT upgrades and site installations.
- Monitor and advise the Government on obsolescence issues, tech insertion opportunities, and modernization plans for IDT transmitter racks, cooling systems, and antenna arrays.
- Serve as the IDT subject matter expert for the Government during system milestones, identifying technical risks, programmatic issues, and recommending corresponding mitigation solutions.
- Develop and present technical reports, white papers, and briefings to support Government decision‑making at Engineering Review Boards (ERBs), Failure Review Boards (FRBs), and other stakeholder meetings.
- Travel as required (estimated 10%).
- Master’s degree in engineering or a related STEM discipline.
- Minimum of 12 years of direct experience in engineering, with a strong emphasis on RF communications, radar/transmitter systems, or high‑power antenna systems.
- Experience in missile defense or a related DoD environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of RF signal processing, communications links, high‑power transmitters, or telemetry systems.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- An active Secret (or higher) security clearance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Skills:
- Direct experience in digital engineering/Dev Sec Ops development projects.
