Description

The person in this position will provide Systems Engineering, Requirements management, Verification and Validation (RV&V) coordination, and element/system level integration support to the MSFC Systems Design and Verification Branch (EV72) for support to the Space Launch System (SLS) elements.

The successful candidate will coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines, system elements, cross-program elements, and customers, and participate in reviews, meetings, working groups, task teams, and trade studies. The candidate will provide leadership and/or support for key systems engineering products including requirements, specifications, milestones, and other activities where products are assessed and matured. The candidate will work with SLS element customers/partners from inception to deployment to ensure stakeholder needs are satisfied.

System engineering support includes the following responsibilities:

  • Support development of SLS element requirements and verification products and ensure compliance during development, testing, and evaluation of sub-elements.
  • Provide technical integration with other engineering disciplines, the SLS element, and cross-program elements, with risk-based oversight through assessment of requirements and verification activities.
  • Assist the SLS element Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) and Engineering Discipline Lead Engineers (EDLEs) to evaluate prime contractor deliverables, including assessments of element Detailed Verification Objectives and verification of allocated end-item requirements.
  • Support systems engineering tasks and assessments to support SLS Program elements through reviews, meetings, working groups, trade studies, and development of key systems engineering products to support program milestones.
  • Support the development of integrated schedules and other tracking mechanisms to manage work and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Support the implementation of Digital Engineering best practices, approaches, techniques, and tools.
  • Support requirement V&V including planning, execution, coordination, and integration for system-level requirements to assure design compliance.
  • Communicate technical issues, risks, best practices, and lessons learned related to products, technical positions, requirement management, and V&V practices, and develop integrated schedules and other tracking mechanisms to manage tasks.
  • Identify, describe, and communicate potential risks related to products, processes, and interactions in the systems engineering processes and document them in the NASA Risk Management System.
Qualifications

A degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required. Typically, the equivalent of a BS degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience in systems engineering and integration, launch vehicle definition, design integration, performance analyses, and verification/validation is expected. Must be a US Citizen and have a STAR .
