Systems Safety Engineer - Aviation (BT-26155) with Security Clearance

The Systems Safety Engineer (Aviation) will support the Department of Defense (DoD) located in Redstone Arsenal, AL. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide overall guidance and direction to PMs as necessary to accomplish the objectives of system safety engineering program.
Furnish technical advice and assistance to PMs in matters of system safety engineering to include software system safety in all phases of the acquisition life cycle.
Assist with command activities and PMs in planning, establishing, implementing, and revising, of safety directives, policies, procedures, techniques, and training for all activities relating to aviation system safety, to include accident prevention in connection with personnel engaged and equipment used in various operations including aircraft development and test, repair, and maintenance.
Establish system safety design criteria and requirements for aviation systems and special projects.
Perform independent safety analyses, studies, and design evaluation of systems, subsystems, and equipment.
Review airworthiness documentation, technical manuals, publications, maintenance procedures and test reports to assure that adequate safety information, accuracy, warning notes, and emergency procedures are prescribed for personnel protection and system operation.
Ensure safety requirements are included in hazardous item contracts and provides safety engineering support during fielding and sustainment of supported programs.

REQUIRED:

This position requires a Secret Clearance, or the ability to obtain one; must be a US citizen.
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering with 10+ years of work experience.
Requires independent work experience with safety analyses, studies, and design evaluation of systems, subsystems, and equipment.
Ability to review airworthiness documentation, technical manuals, publications, maintenance procedures and test reports to assure that adequate safety information, accuracy, warning notes, and emergency procedures are prescribed for personnel protection and system operation. DESIRED:
Experience in Aviation System Safety.

WORK LOCATION:

This position is located onsite and offers a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off; some travel may be required.
