About Our Department:The mission of the City of Huntsville Traffic Engineering Division is to provide for the safe and efficient movement of pedestrians, bicyclists, and motor vehicles through the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of traffic control systems. Our staff continually works to upgrade and maintain all signs, signals, and pavement markings at all intersections and roadways within the City of Huntsville. We also address visibility obstructions at intersections.
StreetSign and Marking Technician
Position Overview:
Our team plays a pivotal role in optimizing Huntsville's traffic infrastructure. In addition to manufacturing a wide range of essential street signs, including regulatory, warning, guide, information, school zone signs, and street name markers, we continually strive to enhance road safety and efficiency. In our pursuit of excellence, our crews not only fabricate signs but also engage in proactive vegetation management, ensuring that shrubbery and tree limbs are pruned to eliminate any obstructions to traffic signs and signals.
This commitment to visibility and safety extends to our pavement markings crews, who take charge of the installation and upkeep of various critical elements. This includes stop bars, yellow and white lane lines, turn arrows, raised pavement markers, school zones, railroad crossing markings, and pedestrian crosswalks. Our dedication to excellence in traffic engineering is fundamental to ensuring safe, efficient, and well-maintained roadways in Huntsville.
and Necessary
Special Requirements :
High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A valid Driver's License.
