Description

This position is part of the Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) support to the NASA EM32 Welding & Manufacturing (W&M) team under the Engineering Services and Science Capability Augmentation (ESSCA) contract to the NASA MSFC Engineering Directorate. The primary focus of this position is manufacturing large aluminum aerospace structures using fusion welding and friction stir welding processes. Education and experience relevant to this position will be evaluated from that perspective.

The position's primary responsibilities are to perform and/or perform welding and fabrication operations. This position works integrally with an engineer/scientist under the guidance of a higher-level technician to apply and improve skills across a broad range in fields such as electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, drafting, or assembly disciplines. This individual applies standardized rules and exercises procedures through the guidance, training and experience of a higher-level technician in engineering and scientific methods.

This individual applies defined test and inspection techniques to various engineering and scientific aspects. This individual implements drawings, plans, and specifications and helps identify and correct deficiencies. This individual interprets drawings, plans, and specifications and identifies and corrects deficiencies in methods and practices under the guidance of an engineer, scientist, or higher-level technician. This individual prepares and presents inspection and test reports and corresponding documentation.

Qualifications

Typically, educational requirements are a High School diploma or GED or equivalent; and at least 2 years of general experience. Relevant candidate work experience will be evaluated against ESSCA contract engineering labor categories.

Must be a US Citizen and have a STAR .

The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain permission to operate customer-owned vehicles in support of work activities. The selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, automobile liability insurance and successfully complete a company defensive driving training class.

The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain the following customer safety certifications:

  • Welding Safety.
  • Respirator (non-SCBA).
  • Overhead Crane/Hoist Operator.
  • Rigger.
  • Forklift Operator.
  • Aerial Lift Operator.
