- Create, review, and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnect diagrams, and block diagrams.
- Select and specify electrical components, connectors, wire, and cable, accounting for derating, environmental requirements, availability, and obsolescence.
- Define electrical interfaces and maintain interface control documentation between subsystems and with customer and supplier hardware.
- Develop cable and wire harness designs and drawings, and support the wire harness and cable assembly room during build, inspection, and test.
- Integrate, troubleshoot, and debug electrical hardware at the board, box, and system level using standard lab equipment.
- Plan and conduct electrical testing, including functional, continuity, insulation resistance, and acceptance testing, and document results.
- Support environmental and electromagnetic interference (EMI) qualification testing, including test planning, fixture preparation, and resolution of test failures.
- Apply grounding, bonding, and shielding practices to hardware designs to meet electromagnetic compatibility requirements.
- Perform electrical analyses such as power budgets, wire and fuse sizing, voltage drop, and thermal considerations.
- Participate in design reviews and provide input to mechanical and manufacturing engineering on packaging, routing, and producibility.
- Support manufacturing with work instructions, test procedures, nonconformance dispositions, and engineering changes under configuration control.
- Support proposal and estimating efforts with technical approaches, electrical labor and material estimates, and test requirements.
- Maintain compliance with export control requirements (ITAR/EAR) and facility security requirements applicable to the work performed.
