Key Responsibilities
- Perform general nursing duties in a busy orthopedic practice
- Perform wound care/dressing changes
- Drawing up meds; calling in medications
- Application of sterile fields
- Applying and removing casts and splints and fitting of orthotics
- Locate any necessary films, test results, and/or reports for upcoming appointments
- Schedule and precert tests, procedures and surgeries
- Prepare exam rooms, restock supplies for clinic, power up computers, etc.
- Prepare charts for clinic and print out patient information as requested by physician
- Assist with verifying pre-op labs and scheduling surgery clearances as needed
- Assist other physician team members as needed
- Travel to satellite offices in local area as needed
- Fill out disability, return-to-work and insurance forms
- Friendly and Professional patient communication when answering and returning patient phone calls, providing various forms of patient education and handouts, escorting patients to and from exam rooms, appointment/surgery reminder calls, responding to and chart patient messages and communicating test results to patients with direction from physician

- Obtain physician signature on miscellaneous forms
- Friendly and Professional patient communication when answering and returning patient phone calls, providing various forms of patient education and handouts, escorting patients to and from exam rooms, appointment/surgery reminder calls, responding to and chart patient messages and communicating test results to patients with direction from physician
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, TOC physicians and staff
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in very busy clinical setting
- Outstanding organizational, verbal and writing skills
- Independent and highly motivated
- Exhibit initiative and self-discipline
- Proven positive, “teamwork” attitude and work history
- Experience with surgical patients preferred
- Clinical experience required
- Orthopaedic experience and pediatric experience is a plus
- Must be able to use arms, hands, and fingers skillfully
- Frequent moving, pushing, pulling of heavy patients and/or equipment
- Constant standing and walking for long periods of time
- Must be agile and able to work efficiently in space limited areas
- Consistently work at a productive pace
- Must readily adapt to frequent treatment schedule changes
