** POSITION PROFILE
** A barback supports bartenders by ensuring the bar is well-stocked, clean, and organized. Their duties include restocking liquor, mixers, and garnishes, washing and stocking glassware, changing beer kegs, and general cleaning tasks like wiping counters and mopping floors. This fast-paced, physically demanding role helps bartenders focus on serving customers efficiently and is often an entry-level position for those looking to become bartenders.
** ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILTIES
*** Restocking and inventory:
Continuously monitors and replenishes supplies like liquor, beer, mixers, ice, and garnishes.
* Glassware and dishware:
Washes, polishes, and restocks glassware, and washes other bar tools and equipment.
* Cleaning and organization:
Cleans spills, mops floors, and maintains a clean and organized bar area.
* Preparation:
Prepares garnishes and restocks items like napkins, straws, and toothpicks.
* Support tasks:
Changes out beer kegs, assists with opening and closing procedures, and may help with customer questions or requests.
* Logistics:
Hauls supplies and takes out trash and recycling.
** REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
*** Physical stamina:
The job is physically demanding and requires being on your feet for long periods.
* Organizational skills:
Must be able to manage inventory and tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
* Attention to detail:
Essential for keeping the bar stocked and clean, and for noticing when supplies are running low.
* Adaptability:
Must be able to handle a variety of tasks as they arise.
* Teamwork:
Works closely with bartenders and other staff to ensure smooth operations.
* Customer service:
While bartenders are the main point of contact, barbacks are expected to provide friendly support to customers as needed.
** PHYSICAL DEMANDS
*** Able to lift, push, carry 20 - 40 lbs.
* Stand continuously for long periods of time.
