Position Summary

HII - Mission Technologies is seeking a skilled Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to join our dynamic engineering team supporting the U.S. Navy's Authority to Operate (ATO) process. In this role you will assess, document, and implement security controls that protect sensitive naval systems and data, navigating DoD cybersecurity frameworks including RMF and NIST standards.

This role requires on‑site work in Huntsville, AL and cannot be done remotely.

What you will do
  • Oversee and manage information security program implementation within the organization.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive RMF technical artifacts.
  • Serve as a liaison between technical teams, security personnel, and Navy stakeholders.
  • Support critical testing activities including T&E, DT&E, and OT&E with security control validation.
  • Apply cybersecurity expertise across the full system lifecycle, conducting annual reviews, and performing contingency testing.
  • Implement risk‑balanced security controls that protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Navy information systems.
  • Provide support for PTT systems' authorization and continuous monitoring processes.
  • Respond to security incidents, identify violations, and ensure secure recovery.
  • Develop and review critical documentation such as CONOPS, ECPs, and risk analyses.
  • Deliver expert security recommendations to U.S. Navy representatives.
  • Support the ISSM and facility director in implementing cybersecurity policies aligned with Navy/DoD requirements.
  • Create and maintain documentation for system security operations and problem resolution.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 3 years with a Master’s; 9 years with a High School Diploma.
  • IAM Level II in Cyber Security Workforce.
  • CompTIA Security+ (CE).
  • Current USG issued "SECRET" security clearance.
  • Strong understanding of RMF, JSIG, and RMF Bodies of Evidence.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and self‑starter in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
Preferred Requirements
  • CNSSI 4012 certificate or ADQ GA7.
  • Completion of military training courses such as NEC 2779, 3372, W-3B-1500, or equivalent.
  • GSLC, CISSP, CISM, CAP, or CASP.
Physical Requirements
  • May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperatures.
