WZDX-TV, the TEGNA‑owned FOX affiliate in Huntsville, AL, is hiring a Head of Broadcast Technology and Operations. This role reports directly to the Regional Head of Technology and Operations. The successful candidate will lead engineering and IT teams supporting 24/7/365 broadcast operations.

• Manage short‑ and long‑term technology strategy
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations, including equipment integration, maintenance of core infrastructure, studios, control rooms, facilities, post‑production and transmission for all live programming
• Ensure compliance with FCC rules and regulations
• Implement and maintain critical security policies (account, password security, vulnerability protection, antivirus, untrusted network, IT incident reporting)
• Develop business continuity and disaster recovery plans
• Maintain financial responsibility for the Engineering Department – budgeting, approvals and reviews
• Monitor and improve daily on‑air technical quality
• Drive workflow improvements for on‑air and online products
• Manage vendor contracts – technology, building maintenance and security
• Lead capital planning and the submission process for the station
• Lead project planning and management for station‑wide initiatives

• Strong customer service skills and consistent professionalism
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills for technical and non‑technical audiences
• Demonstrated strong leadership with a focus on team management
• Understanding of IT processes including security, workflow and management
• In‑depth knowledge of broadcast technologies such as ENPS newsroom systems, Bit central media management, RF transmission, broadcast video switchers and routers preferred
• Ability to work well and make quick decisions under pressure
  
  Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education; minimum four years of broadcast operations/technology management experience
• Capable of lifting 50 lbs., climbing ladders, working in confined spaces
• Flexible to support 24/7/365 operation
