Siemens Digital Industries Software is seeking a Manager, Infrastructure Platform Engineering to lead the Windows Platform Engineering team and work with the Linux platform team within the Technology and Innovation (T&I) organization, part of Architecture and Standards.
These teams are responsible for the design, automation, and governance of the DI SW R&D server resources, both virtual and bare metal. The role is accountable for both technical outcomes and team development, with a strong emphasis on automation, Infrastructure-as-Code, and evolving the operating model from individually managed, high-touch systems to scalable, standardized platforms. The manager partners closely with our Linux platform team for alignment and will be a trusted partner to our architecture, operations, security, and software development organizations to deliver reliable, secure, and modern Windows services at enterprise scale.

- Build and evolve team skills aligned with modern platform engineering practices, including automation, IaC, and policy-driven operations.
- Create a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
- Support hiring, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning.
- Own the standards, reference implementations, and lifecycle management for R&D Windows infrastructure and services.
- Ensure consistent implementation of Windows platform standards across global environments.
- Working closely with the Linux platform team, drive alignment with Architecture & Standards principles while balancing operational realities.
- Lead the transition of the operating model, individual management, and high-touch systems, to managing standardized platforms and processes at scale.
- Champion automation-first approaches, including:
- Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)
- Configuration-as-Code (CaC)
- Policy-driven provisioning and compliance
- Ensure provisioning, patching, and lifecycle processes are repeatable, scalable, and measurable.
- Oversee patching, upgrades, and lifecycle alignment across R&D environments.
- Partner with security teams to ensure timely vulnerability remediation and compliance.
- Balance risk, stability, and developer productivity in patching and upgrade strategies.
- Ensure platforms effectively support software development workflows, tools, and applications.
- Partner with software development organizations to understand requirements and consumption patterns.
- Act as an escalation point for platform-related issues impacting development teams.
- Define measures of success, KPIs, and operational metrics for platform health, reliability, security, and efficiency.
- Provide clear, concise reporting to leadership, Architecture & Standards, and software development stakeholders.
- Communicate technical concepts effectively at multiple levels, from engineers to senior leadership.
- Represent the Platform Engineering team in cross-functional forums and reviews.
- Proven experience as a first-line people manager, leading and developing technical engineering teams.
- Strong background in enterprise platform engineering, including:
- Server and Client operating systems
- Platform standards, lifecycle management, and service ownership
- Deep understanding of:
- General configuration management principles along with patching, upgrades, and lifecycle alignment
- Vulnerability management and compliance in enterprise environments
- Enterprise services supporting R&D and software development
- Strong understanding of automation principles with hands-on experience or leadership oversight of:
- Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)
- Configuration-as-Code (CaC)
- Automated provisioning and policy-driven compliance
- Demonstrated success driving cultural change, evolving teams from manual, pet-based systems toward automated, cattle-based platform models.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to:
- Define measures of success and KPIs
- Report clearly at multiple organizational levels
- Engage effectively with software development organizations
- Strong working knowledge of both Windows and Linux platforms, including experience operating, supporting, or collaborating with Linux-based infrastructure teams.
- Experience managing or leading teams in mixed Windows and Linux environments.
- Familiarity with Dev Ops and platform engineering operating models across multiple operating systems.
- Experience supporting R&D or software development-focused environments.
- Experience defining, tracking, and reporting platform health and service metrics at scale.
- Experience partnering with security, architecture, and compliance organizations.
