Koniag IT Systems, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced Deputy Program Manager (DPM) to support the execution of a large, complex IT modernization program. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented professional with extensive experience in government program management, contract compliance, and cross-functional team coordination. This position requires the ability to manage multiple work streams, track program performance, and serve as a trusted liaison between government stakeholders and technical delivery teams.
The DPM will play a critical role in ensuring program success through effective governance, risk management, and operational execution.
The Deputy Program Manager will provide comprehensive support to the Program Manager in executing a large-scale IT modernization program within a compliance-driven government environment. The DPM will serve as a central coordination point across technical and functional teams, ensuring program objectives are met on time and within budget. The DPM will act as the Program Manager when required and maintain program integrity through rigorous governance, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Support day-to-day execution and operational oversight of a large, complex IT modernization program
Coordinate activities across multiple technical and functional work streams to ensure alignment and integration
Track program schedules, milestones, deliverables, and action items to closure
Manage cross-team dependencies and ensure timely resolution of blockers
Serve as acting Program Manager during absences or as directed
Support program governance forums, status reviews, and executive briefings
Prepare and maintain comprehensive program status reports, dashboards, performance metrics, and executive summaries
Ensure full compliance with contract requirements, Statements of Work (SOWs), and applicable government standards
Create and maintain audit-ready program documentation, artifacts, and historical records
Support government reviews, inspections, audits, and data calls with accurate and timely responses
Maintain and update program risk, issue, and dependency logs
Coordinate mitigation plans, corrective actions, and resolution strategies
Track and support formal change requests and conduct impact assessments
Escalate risks and issues per established program governance processes
Monitor subcontractor performance, deliverable quality, and acceptance criteria
Coordinate contract modifications, administrative updates, and procurement actions
Support staffing plans, onboarding processes, and offboarding activities
Track personnel assignments, labor categories, and resource utilization
Coordinate timesheet compliance and labor reporting requirements
Support performance feedback processes, staffing adjustments, and coverage planning
Assist with personnel issue resolution and escalation as needed
Act as primary coordination point between government customers, the Program Manager, and delivery teams
Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across teams
Track meeting outcomes, decisions, action items, and ensure timely follow-up and closure
Ensure consistent, clear, and professional communication across all stakeholder groups
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university
Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree per contract requirements
7+ years of experience supporting or managing government or Department of Defense (DoD) programs
3+ years of experience in IT modernization, systems integration, or enterprise IT initiatives
Experience supporting contract execution, program controls, and compliance-driven environments
Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and managing subcontractor relationships
Familiarity with government reporting requirements, audits, and program governance processes
PMP (Project Management Professional), or similar program/project management certification, preferred – not required
Required Skills and
Competencies:
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Strong understanding of government contract execution, compliance requirements, and audit protocols
Proficiency in program management methodologies, tools, and best practices
