Location: Huntsville, Alabama (100% Onsite)
Clearance Required: Active Top Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required)

Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Senior Linux System Administrator with proven expertise in AWS cloud environments to support mission‑critical systems within a classified defense program. This position is fully onsite in Huntsville, AL, supporting a federal intel agency. The ideal candidate has deep experience managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or similar distributions, implementing automation and infrastructure‑as‑code solutions, and maintaining high‑availability, secure cloud environments in compliance with DoD security standards.
Key Responsibilities- Administer and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) in classified and unclassified environments.
- Design, implement, and maintain AWS infrastructure (VPC, EC2, S3, Cloud Watch, IAM, RDS, EFS).
- Automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment tasks using Ansible, Terraform, or Cloud Formation.
- Monitor system performance, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement performance tuning.
- Patch and harden Linux systems to meet DISA STIG and RMF compliance requirements.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and security policies in accordance with DoD standards.
- Support and integrate CI/CD pipelines and Dev Sec Ops practices.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure continuous monitoring and incident response.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum sprints, providing infrastructure support to development and QA teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of hands‑on Linux system administration experience (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Proven experience managing cloud infrastructure in AWS (VPC, EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, Cloud Formation, Cloud Watch).
- Proficiency in troubleshooting networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, load balancers).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git Lab CI/CD, AWS Code Pipeline).
- Working knowledge of security hardening (STIGs, CIS benchmarks) and RMF controls.
- Excellent problem‑solving, documentation, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/EKS).
- Experience with AWS Gov Cloud or classified AWS regions.
- AWS Certified Sys Ops Administrator or Solutions Architect.
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
- Security+, CISSP, or equivalent DoD 8570 certification.
- Exposure to monitoring tools (Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios).
- 3 weeks of paid time off (PTO that includes sick leave). Unused PTO issued as a check at the end of an employee’s anniversary.
