The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) provides Information Technology support to the Portfolio Acquisition Executive for Fires (PAE FIRES), a Continental United States (CONUS) organization. OCIO delivers centralized lifecycle management, direction, guidance, and support for the acquisition, sustainment, maintainability, supportability, and implementation of PAE FIRES Information Mission Area (IMA) capabilities. The Network Support Technician will support the design, implementation, operation, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of classified and unclassified network environments.
This role requires strong technical knowledge, problem‑solving ability, and a proactive approach to maintaining secure and reliable network operations.
- Design, development, implementation, operations, and maintenance of network infrastructure.
- Diagnose and repair interconnectivity issues between LANs/WANs and communication networks (both classified and unclassified). Provide network monitoring, testing, management, and administration services to maintain and re‑engineer all existing and future PAE FIRES networks. Provide cutting‑edge mission network solutions utilizing voice, data, and video networks comprised of both classified and unclassified networks, and standalone systems. Provide network management for mission telecommunication networks (e.g., LAN), utilizing state‑of‑the‑art techniques and protocols that adhere to best industry practices, security regulations, policies, and guidelines.
- Design, develop, install, configure, and optimize network infrastructure components and devices including firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS)/intrusion prevention systems (IPS), Active Directories, switches, routers, hubs, bridges, cabling, fiber optics, and network operating systems.
- Analyze customer requirements and provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate complexity.
- Perform maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and other network devices.
- Maintain network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintaining system backup and recovery capability.
- Maintain the security and authorization of the network as it relates to mission network support and operations.
- Support the design and build of hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

- Bachelor's degree, associate degree, or two‑year technical school certification with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- DoD IAT Level II certification required (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent).
- Cisco networking infrastructure.
- LAN/WAN networking concepts and protocols.
- Network security practices and infrastructure support.
- Classified and unclassified network operations.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Capable of conveying complex information in a simplistic manner.
- Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong self‑starter requiring minimal supervision.
- Able to take proactive measures to prevent problems rather than reacting.
- Strong verbal and written communication to effectively express concepts, plans, and proposals.
- Sedentary job requiring occasional racking, stacking, cabling, configuring, and replacing faulty hardware, with a maximum weight of 50 lbs.
