Overview Kforce is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Data Analyst to support a mission-critical federal program focused on transforming complex data into actionable intelligence and operational insights. This role is ideal for a highly experienced Data Analyst who can work independently with mission stakeholders, technical teams, and leadership to identify analytical requirements, perform exploratory data analysis, and develop meaningful reporting solutions.

The selected candidate will be responsible for extracting, analyzing, validating, documenting, and visualizing data to support strategic and operational decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in Python, SQL, Power BI, Git Lab, data documentation, and exploratory data analysis (EDA) while serving as a trusted advisor across multiple teams and functional areas.

Key Responsibilities
Serve as the lead data analysis SME supporting mission-critical business and technical initiatives
Collaborate directly with stakeholders to gather, refine, and document data analysis requirements
Perform advanced Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) to identify trends, anomalies, relationships, and data quality issues
Analyze large structured and semi-structured datasets using Python and SQL
Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI
Translate business questions into analytical solutions and actionable recommendations
Create and maintain data dictionaries, metadata, business rules, and technical documentation
Support data validation, cleansing, and quality assurance efforts
Present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences
Manage source control and collaborate within development environments using Git Lab
Work independently across multiple projects while coordinating with data engineers, developers, and program leadership
Develop repeatable analytical processes and best practices
Identify opportunities to improve data collection, reporting, and operational performance
Support Agile team activities and mission-focused initiatives

Required Qualifications
Active Top Secret Clearance
10+ years of experience supporting data analysis, business intelligence, or analytics initiatives
Strong expertise with Python for data analysis and transformation
Advanced experience with SQL for querying and analyzing large datasets
Experience conducting Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA)
Experience developing dashboards and reporting solutions using Power BI
Experience utilizing Git Lab for source control and collaboration
Experience creating and maintaining data documentation, metadata, and reporting artifacts
Demonstrated ability to independently gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements
Strong experience presenting analytical findings to stakeholders and leadership
Strong understanding of data quality, validation, and governance principles
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Experience working within Agile environments

Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting FBI, DoD, Intelligence Community, or other federal programs
Experience working with cloud-based data environments and AWS services
Experience supporting enterprise data modernization initiatives
Experience developing KPI, operational, and executive-level reporting
Familiarity with data modeling and database design concepts
Experience supporting large-scale data integration initiatives
Relevant analytics, business intelligence, or cloud certifications
Work Environment
Fully onsite at Redstone Arsenal – Huntsville, Alabama
Monday–Friday during standard core business hours
