Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Mid-Level Data Migration Engineer to support a company focused on federal modernization, cloud transformation, and mission-critical technology initiatives.
This position is on-site in Huntsville, AL.
The Data Migration Engineer Mid will support the extraction, transformation, validation, and migration of high-volume data from legacy systems into secure cloud environments. This is an opportunity to play a key role in modernizing critical government systems by supporting ETL pipelines, data quality, and migration activities for high-impact national missions.
Responsibilities for the Data Migration Engineer Mid include:- Support ETL workflows and data migration pipelines used to extract, transform, cleanse, normalize, validate, and load data from legacy systems into modern environments
- Perform data mapping, integrity checks, completeness assessments, and troubleshooting to ensure migrated datasets are accurate and properly formatted
- Collaborate with data engineers, migration engineers, Dev Sec Ops teams, QA engineers, and cloud architects to validate source and target environments and support migration readiness
- Participate in migration testing, technical reviews, data validation checkpoints, and resolution of issues affecting migration performance or data quality
- Maintain technical documentation for migration processes, ETL workflows, schemas, data mappings, pipeline behavior, risks, and operational progress
- 4+ years of experience supporting data migration, ETL, data engineering, data integration, or related data environments, with a Bachelor’s degree required
- Hands-on experience working with structured and unstructured data, including data mapping, transformation, cleansing, normalization, and validation
- Experience with ETL tools, data pipelines, scripting languages, and/or migration automation technologies
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with experience identifying and resolving data quality, integrity, and migration issues
- Must have an Active Top Secret Security Clearance
- Experience supporting large-scale, enterprise, or multi-system data migration initiatives
- Hands-on experience with AWS or other cloud-based data pipelines and migration environments
- Familiarity with Dev Sec Ops , CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud modernization
- Experience supporting DOJ, FBI, Intelligence Community, or other national security programs
