Essential Functions

The Maintenance Technician Lead is responsible for performing and overseeing advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the industrial equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This role involves leading preventive and corrective maintenance efforts, identifying root causes of equipment issues, and supporting continuous improvement and automation initiatives. The Maintenance Technician Lead will also be responsible for programming and maintaining PLCs, supporting robotics and CNC systems, and providing technical guidance and mentorship to maintenance staff.

Overview
  • Perform and lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and robotic equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex equipment issues to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
  • Install, modify, and maintain production machinery in accordance with safety and quality standards.
  • Support and perform programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs, CNC equipment, and related control systems.
  • Plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Complete maintenance work orders and documentation accurately and timely within the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and management to drive continuous improvement, automation, and capital project initiatives.
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure all maintenance activities comply with company policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance, hands‑on training, and feedback to other maintenance technicians.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including Health, Safety and Quality Assurance policies.
  • Report injuries, accidents, near misses or unsafe conditions to a Supervisor or Manager immediately.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
  • 7+ years of progressive industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Proven experience in PLC and VFD programming, electrical controls troubleshooting, and equipment automation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair AC/DC drives, industrial control systems, motor starters, and interpret electrical schematics or ladder logic diagrams.
  • Experience with Fanuc and Rockwell robotics systems is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in performing preventive maintenance, documenting maintenance records, and adhering to safety standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, diagnose issues, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Advanced technical proficiency and troubleshooting ability.

  • Clear communication and collaboration across teams.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access).

Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work performed in industrial environments with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
Work Environment
  • Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing setting.
  • Standard 40‑hour work week; overtime or shift work may be required based on production needs.
