Duties & Responsibilities
The Central Loading Material Handler reports to the Material Co-ordinator and is responsible for keeping all Central Loading equipment supplied with all the materials required. The Central Loading Material Handler is also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the Central Loading Dept floor areas and for using proper procedures during clean‑ups (i.e. emptying garbage daily). Dryers and other equipment must be kept free of spilled plastic pellets.
- Ensure that all preventative maintenance in Central Loading area is carried out (e.g. main system filters, dryer check list, etc.) as assigned by the Material Co-ordinator.
- Ensure that materials are consumed in FIFO (first in, first out).
- Ensure all unused material returned from production is inspected for contamination prior to returning to the raw material inventory.
- Ensure that all material is available and ready to support the Daily Moulding Production schedule/Tracker.
- Communicate with the Material Handlers on mould changes, and disconnect or hook up resin to machines accordingly.
- Ensure that lift trucks are maintained in safe, clean running condition, and submit checklist to the Material Co-ordinator daily.
- Ensure the safe operation of lift trucks in the Central Loading area.
- Ensure that all product is handled, moved, and stored in such a way as to prevent product damage or deterioration.
- Ensure that all material blends required for production and/or tooling trials are completed.
- Break down empty gaylords and transport them, as well as skids, to the recycle storage bin in receiving.
- Perform minor repairs to hoses and wands.
- Perform other related duties as instructed by the Material Co-ordinator and/or Management.
- 2 years related experience as a material handler.
- Successful completion of lift‑truck safety course.
- Secondary school diploma.
- Organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of related policies and procedures.
- Understanding of key Quality & Environmental Management Systems procedures related to job function.
- Lift‑Truck training and knowledge of lift‑truck safety.
- Forms, Labels, and Tags governing job function.
