Nurse Practitioner​/Physician Assistant-Office-Spine & Neuro Clinic-

Overview

This health care professional is a physician assistant (PA) or nurse practitioner (NP) on the neurosurgery team of the Spine and Neuro department at Huntsville Hospital. The primary function is co‑management of patients—diagnosis and treatment—under the supervision of neurosurgical physicians within recognized standards of practice in the clinic.

• Education required
  :
  Completion of Nurse Practitioner Masters of Science in Nursing or current Physician Assistant license.
• License, certification and registration
  :
  Successful completion of a National Certification Exam for NP or current registration through the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners for PA. Approval of the Huntsville Hospital Credentialing Board. BLS required within orientation period.
• Experience
  :
  Minimum one (1) year of work experience as a licensed NP/PA preferred. Inpatient, acute care neurosurgical or surgical experience preferred.
• Additional skills/abilities
  :
  Proven ability to work in a team environment; ability to interact with patients and families in a manner that instills confidence and facilitates communication; ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment.
