Labor & Delivery at Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children is the highest delivering hospital in the state of Alabama and the regional referral center for North Alabama and southern Tennessee. We have 20 Labor Rooms, 3 dedicated OR suites, a newly renovated PACU, an 11‑bed high‑risk Antepartum unit, and the first Obstetric Emergency Department in the state of Alabama. The unit is staffed by board certified OB/GYN Hospitalists and collaborates with Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians to care for patients across the obstetric spectrum, from managing complications such as preeclampsia and gestational diabetes to supporting mothers during labor and delivery.
As an L&D RN you will be skilled in caring for pregnant patients during labor, obstetrical emergencies, and other obstetric conditions. You will assist women throughout the birthing process and play an active role in cesarean deliveries as the patient’s circulating nurse and, when required, as the scrub nurse assisting the physician with the birth of the infant and the repair of the mother.
You will provide critical patient support, clinical nursing care, and comprehensive pregnancy and postpartum education.
You will be accountable for patient outcomes during your shift, identifying patient needs through assessment, planning and delegating care, and evaluating responses to achieve expected outcomes.
QualificationsEducation
:
Graduate of a state‑board‑approved School of Nursing with current Alabama or multi‑state licensure.
Experience
:
Preferred but new graduates will be considered.
Additional Skills & Abilities
: BLS certification required before the conclusion of the orientation period.
