- Hematology/Oncology, is seeking a Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator I.

As a Clinical Research Nurse in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, you will coordinate and support oncology clinical research studies involving pediatric patients. The role is responsible for ensuring protocol compliance, coordinating patient care activities related to research participation, collecting and maintaining accurate clinical data and specimens, and serving as a liaison between patients, providers, sponsors, and research teams. It also supports regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), IRB, and sponsor requirements to ensure successful conduct of oncology clinical trials.

General

Responsibilities
  • Serve as coordinator for clinical research studies and provide support to other study team members for trials, studies, and projects within the confines of study protocols.
  • Support protocol screening and study participant eligibility determination, working with senior team members to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct all study activities in accordance with the protocol, Institutional Review Board (IRB) regulations, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Assist with the life cycle of the study from start‑up through maintenance to closure.
  • Coordinate and organize participant care including recruitment, screening, scheduling, consenting, conducting visits, and collecting various assessments such as adverse event (AE) information or questionnaires.
  • Perform the informed consent process following GCP.
  • Act as a liaison among the clinical and research staff, departments, ancillary services, and the study sponsor to ensure protocol compliance throughout the study.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage clinical care activities for pediatric hematology/oncology patients enrolled in oncology research protocols, ensuring compliance with study requirements and institutional guidelines.
  • Collect, document, and maintain accurate clinical research data, specimens, and source documentation required for oncology research studies and regulatory reporting.
  • Monitor patient progress throughout research participation, including scheduling study‑related appointments and procedures.
  • Assess protocol adherence and communicate with physicians, sponsors, and interdisciplinary teams regarding patient care and study updates.
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations, IRB requirements, sponsor guidelines, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards while supporting quality assurance and audit readiness for oncology clinical trials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Annual Salary Range

$52,555 – $85,400

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required; work experience may substitute for education requirement.
  • Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
