The Quality Control Manager (QCM) in the federal construction industry is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of construction projects in compliance with all contractual standards. This role involves managing and coordinating quality control activities, implementing quality assurance procedures, and conducting inspections to verify that materials, workmanship, and project outcomes meet the required specifications. The QCM is also responsible for developing and maintaining a quality management system, addressing non-conformance issues, and ensuring that corrective actions are taken as necessary.

This position requires strong knowledge of federal construction standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices, as well as the ability to lead a team, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and ensure that all project deliverables meet or exceed established quality benchmarks. The QCM plays a critical role in the successful execution and completion of federal construction projects.

This position will report to our office location in Huntsville, AL at Redstone Arsenal.

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties, but not all duties performed for this position. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop, administer, and ensure compliance with the Quality Control Plan for projects, following the Army Corps Three Phases of Control.
  • Certify that all submittals, plans, and specifications meet contract requirements, and oversee evaluations and testing by approved personnel or facilities.
  • Provide documented evaluations and corrective actions to maintain high-quality standards and minimize recurring issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Building Construction, or Building Science
  • Minimum of 10-years of experience as a Superintendent, QC Manager, Project Manager, Project Engineer or Construction Manager
  • 5-years of experience as a QC Manager
  • Proficient with EM385 1-1
  • Experience in the areas of hazard identification and safety compliance
  • Experience with Procore and RMS
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, and PDF
  • Proven experience as a QCM on similar federal projects
  • In-depth knowledge of quality control procedures and legal standards
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OSHA 30 hour
  • USACE CQM Certification

Additional Qualifying Factors:

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening (post accepted offer) and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
