The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly‑talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or an affiliated research institute. These fellowships are one‑ to three‑year competitive assignments designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.
IMPACT OverviewIMPACT at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) supports the NASA Earth Science Data Systems program by integrating Earth observation data into decision‑making, monitoring advances in data science and information technology, and developing new solutions for Earth science data management and dissemination. IMPACT focuses on novel computational methods and IT to enhance acquisition, storage, processing, discovery, interchange, analysis, and visualization of Earth Science data.
Responsibilities- Development of innovative data science application for information extraction from large data archives.
- Assessment of new and disruptive technologies to enhance the efficiency of NASA Earth science data systems.
- Development of machine learning techniques to solve complex Earth science problems using computing technologies.
- Improvement in user experience with NASA data and services to lower barriers of entry for all users to effectively leverage complex scientific datasets.
- Development of large‑scale data analysis and processing pipelines in a cloud computing environment.
- Doctoral degree.
- U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident (LPR), or eligible foreign national (Exchange Visitor J‑1 visa or LPR, asylee, refugee with valid EAD and pending I‑485/I‑589).
