Safety and Security Dispatcher serves as the central communication hub for our organization's daily logistics, safety protocols, and emergency response. This multifaceted role requires a sharp, level-headed professional capable of managing routine bus coordination, while simultaneously monitoring security cameras and executing emergency communication plans. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environment, possesses exceptional communication skills, and can pivot seamlessly from logistics to crisis management.
ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and dispatch the organizations bus and transport fleet on request from staff.
Emergency Communications (CODE MAS, Weather Notifications) and Employee Notifications.
Security Monitoring.
Serve as the primary point of contact during critical incidents. Draft and manage mass employee notifications and alerts.
Dispatch Environmental Services staff to handle urgent cleanups and safety hazards.
Continuously monitor CCTV feeds.
QualificationsExceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to remain calm, authoritative, and clear under stress.
Familiarity with mass notification software, radio dispatch systems, CCTV, and Guard Management Software.
Strong critical-thinking skills to quickly assess situations, prioritize urgent requests, and deploy correct resources.
Proven ability to manage multiple radio frequencies, phone lines, and software applications simultaneously.
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in security dispatch, transit dispatch, or a high-volume command or call center.
Ability to remain seated at a dispatch workstation for extended periods (up to 8-12 hours) while maintaining a high level of concentration.
Ability to frequently use computers, multiple monitors, keyboards, radios, telephones, and other communication equipment.
Ability to continuously observe and interpret multiple CCTV camera feeds and computer displays.
Ability to hear and clearly communicate through radios, telephones, and face-to-face conversations.
Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations requiring immediate decision-making and coordination.
Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and extended hours during emergencies or staffing shortages.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Work EnvironmentEnvironmental Factors:
Desk work.
This is a shift-based position requiring flexibility to support a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week operation.
Regular work schedules may include day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Employees may be required to work on rotating schedules, mandatory overtime, or extended shifts due to operational needs, staffing shortages, special events, severe weather, or emergency incidents.
Dispatch personnel are expected to report to work on time and maintain reliable attendance due to the mission-critical nature of the position.
Shift assignments and schedules are determined by operational requirements and are subject to change with appropriate notice whenever possible.
Typical shifts may include:
- Day Shift: 06:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- Afternoon/Evening Shift: 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
