About our Department:

The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) is located near the City's downtown business and historic districts. Huntsville has 3 Police Precincts, approximately 500 sworn officers, 200 civilian personnel and patrols an area around 220 square miles. HPD is a "Professional Law Enforcement Organization" utilizing modern technology, state of the art equipment and comprehensive training techniques. The Department is an internationally accredited law enforcement agency through the "Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement" (CALEA).

NAMACC Guardian Network Operator

Position Overview:

This is technical work in the operation and maintenance of the Guardian Network system, which consists of both mobile and fixed City, business, and law enforcement agency CCTV cameras and License Plate Readers (LPRs), within the North Alabama Multi-Agency Crime Center (NAMACC). Work involves performing both real time and reactive collection and dissemination of camera and LPR data for local, regional, and federal law enforcement partners.

Work also involves supporting investigative efforts when appropriate. Ensures priority camera views are readily available based on previous criminal activity and investigative pursuits. Monitors radio and ensures CAD system is actively monitored for possible immediate response by NAMACC personnel. Ensures Guardian Network Supervisor or designee is aware of critical ongoing events; push live video intelligence to responding law enforcement agents as directed by the supervisor.

The working hours for this position are (4) – 10-hour shifts;
Friday-Monday 3p - 1a.

Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:

High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency and one (1) or more years of experience in the operation of CCTV camera systems is preferred. Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Must successfully complete a pre-employment supplemental application and polygraph examination.

Must successfully pass a fingerprinting background check.
