This is a full-time, on-site role based in Huntsville, AL for a Sign Fabricator / Installer. The Sign Fabricator / Installer is responsible for building, assembling, and installing interior and exterior signs using a variety of materials, tools, and equipment. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting work orders and drawings, measuring and cutting materials, operating shop tools and machinery, and preparing signs for finishing and installation.
The role also involves loading and unloading signs, traveling to job sites, safely installing signs at various heights, and ensuring all work complies with safety standards and local regulations. The individual in this role collaborates with the production team, communicates with supervisors regarding project status or issues, and maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Experience with basic fabrication skills such as measuring, cutting, drilling, and assembling materials (metal, plastic, vinyl, and other substrates).
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and common shop equipment (e.g., saws, drills, sanders) with strong attention to safety procedures.
- Comfort working on bucket truck, ladders, lifts, or scaffolding and installing signs at various heights, including familiarity with rigging or mounting hardware.
- Basic understanding of layout, design, and reading technical drawings or blueprints to follow specifications accurately.
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and the ability to travel to job sites in company or commercial vehicles.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to adapt to changing job priorities and site conditions.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with team members, supervisors, and, when needed, customers or contractors.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, and positioning materials and signs, often in outdoor conditions.
- Prior experience in sign fabrication, carpentry, construction, or a related trade is beneficial but not always required.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in fabrication, construction, or a related field is a plus.
