Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector has an opening for a Principal Software Engineer (level
3)
or Sr. Principal Software Engineer (level
4)
to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Huntsville, Alabama.

Responsibilities
  • Writing programs using C++, Java or similar languages
  • Participating in demos for the team and program Sprint reviews
  • Working within an Agile team environment, to include Program Increment Planning, Iteration Planning, Feature and Story development, Sprint Planning, and Iteration Retrospectives.
  • Collaborating with Stakeholders and Government customers
  • Creating and running automated software builds and pipelines in a Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) environment
  • Developing software documentation
  • Creating and running unit test
Basic Requirements
  • (level
    3) - Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of experience; or 3 years of experience with a Masters Degree; or no experience with a related PhD.
  • (level
    4) - Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience; or 6 years of experience with a Master's Degree; or 3 years of experience with a related PhD.
  • Proficient in C++.
    • Secret clearance to start
    • Full time onsite
    • Experience programming network connections (message generation, formatting, UDP and TCP/IP interfaces)
    • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux OS
    • Experience with Git Lab/Git for software configuration management
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiar with Scaled Agile Framework
  • Familiarity with MDA Sensors and missile defense systems
  • Multi-core and multi-threaded programming
  • Jira - issue tracking and agile project management, or similar tool
  • Experience with Java and user interfaces
  • Agile Scrum

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
