REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
- 8 years of experience in computer network operations (CNO) development, digital forensics, or engineering services
- Experience with high and low-level systems programming (C, C++, Python, Java, JavaScript, Perl, Ruby)
- Experience with IDE Plug-in environments
- Knowledge of Linux or UNIX environments
- Experience with Agile software development practices
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering
Clearance
- Top Secret
Preferred Experience:
It is preferred for the Senior Software Engineer to have at least five (5) years of intensive software development experience in modern languages such as C/C++ or Java and knowledge of other commonly used languages such as Perl, Python, Ruby, and JavaScript. It is preferred that the Senior Software Engineer possess working knowledge of some modern computing paradigms and environments such as No
SQL systems, cloud computing and virtualization, parallel programming, network programming, mobile development, and interface development. It is also preferred that the Senior Software Engineer be familiar with end-to-end software development activities in Linux/Windows/Unix/Web environments, software development tools including IDEs (Eclipse, Intelli
J, and Emacs), version control systems (Git and Subversion), and bug tracking systems (Jira). It is preferred the Senior Software Engineer possess experience in Agile software development practices and team design sessions; experience working on a software development team; and demonstrated problem solving ability with the ability to explore and evaluate many possible solutions to problems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Software Engineer Level 5 serves as the technical lead for all software development efforts. The Software Engineer Level 5 shall authoritatively and effectively provide guidance in the overall aspects of the software development efforts to include data architecture, software assurance, and security. The Software Engineer Level 5 will conduct rapid software prototyping to demonstrate and evaluate technologies in relevant environments;
conduct performance, security, and other aspects of evaluating software systems; test software capabilities using novel testing and analysis techniques; document software with an emphasis on architectures, user stories, and interface definitions; practice Agile software development methods; support software development infrastructure; and assist in building and configuring computing systems and resources.
The Software Engineer Level 5 shall interface with the technical community and other Customer entities to understand challenges, needs, and develop solutions and contribute to improving the overall technical capabilities of the Customer's Computer Network Operations (CNO) mission by participating in design (software and otherwise) sessions, developing unique capabilities, and sharing insights and practices across Customer organizations supporting the CNO mission.
