Software Engineer, C++ Developer
Torch Technologies is a 100% employee‑owned company headquartered in Huntsville, AL that provides research, development and engineering services to the Federal Government and Department of War.
Responsibilities- Design, develop and analyze complicated and difficult software programs for computer–based systems.
- Perform systems modeling, simulation and analysis.
- Collaborate with hardware design engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems and work with them to resolve incompatibilities.
- Provide inputs for documentation of new or existing programs as required.
- May provide work leadership for lower‑level employees.
- U.S. citizenship.
- B.S. or greater in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline (relevant graduate degrees preferred).
- At least 5 years of applicable software design engineering experience.
- Proficient in C++20 software development.
- Proficient in navigating and understanding large existing code bases.
- Experience in containerization, including Docker.
- Experience in network implementations using Boost ASIO.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Working experience in high‑performing or mission‑oriented organizations that rely on modeling and simulation.
- Experience with C++ libraries such as Boost and Eigen.
- Experience with TOML and associated C++ libraries.
- Software development, architecture, frameworks, prototyping and design experience.
- Proficiency with scripting languages like Python for data set searching.
- Experience with source control repositories such as Git and Gitlab.
- Experience with C++ build systems such as CMake.
- Linux and Windows development experience.
- Experience with Agile development processes.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00a.m.–5:00p.m.
Work Location: In‑person daily at the Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL.
Customer‑site travel: Yes, 0–10%.
