Principal Software Engineer – Onsite, Huntsville, AL
What You Will DoCollaborate with cross‑functional, agile teams to define, design, and implement new features, ensuring system integration and scalability. Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing code for performance and efficiency in complex environments. Write and maintain comprehensive documentation for software applications, including system architecture and design specifications. Participate in product reviews and ensure adherence to engineering standards and best practices. Stay current with industry trends, particularly in modern languages, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Dev Sec Ops , and other methodologies and technologies related to complex systems.

- Modern Dev Sec Ops and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery techniques
- Test‑Driven Multi‑Disciplined Capability (TDMC) Product Development methodology
- Domains such as battle management, command & control, communications, radar, missile, and/or modeling & simulation
- Engineering across disciplines to develop solutions for defense systems
- Use of AI to increase efficiency and quality across the SDLC
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
- At least 8 years of experience in software development
- Experience leading a small team (e.g., estimating effort, decomposing tasks, tracking and reporting progress)
- Experience developing complex systems and applications using an object‑oriented programming language, particularly C++
- Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems
- Experience with data structures, software design principles, and coding algorithms, especially in high‑concurrency and distributed systems
- Experience with embedded systems, real‑time systems, or large‑scale applications
- Experience with multithreading, memory management, and performance optimization in complex environments
- Experience with shell scripting (tcsh, csh, bash) and software development tools such as Git, Clearcase, and debuggers
- Experience with agile and other software development methodologies
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government‑issued interim Secret security clearance (required)

Experience with network communication protocols and embedded real‑time operating systems such as VxWorks and Integrity - Preferred:

DOD Secret clearance is required. Candidates must obtain an interim U.S. Government‑issued security clearance prior to the start date and must be U.S. citizens.

USD – $204,500
