We’re Doing

Our team, the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2

BMC) Regional team, is constantly engineering, developing, and integrating new capabilities for the U.S. Missile Defense System, protecting both the United States and its allies. This large, fast‑paced team is composed of many small agile teams working together in a dynamic environment with a common mission to develop and deploy leading‑edge missile defense technologies.

The Work

The C2

BMC-Regional Application Agile Release Train is seeking a software engineer that will thrive in a fast‑paced team environment in the design, development, and testing of the C2

BMC applications. Under minimal direction, the engineer provides specialized expertise within multiple systems and software disciplines, as well as general knowledge of related disciplines, applications implications, and customer areas. Common responsibilities of a software engineer on the RA ART team include:

  • Design and develop new Java applications; maintain existing Java applications.
  • Support software testing and resolution of issues from multiple baselines.
  • Perform in‑depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution.
  • Work from system specifications to develop or modify operating system applications.
  • Assist with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of programs.
  • Interface with other system support groups.
  • Generate software design artifacts and support design and code reviews.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in software engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 2 years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in software development of Java‑based applications in a UNIX/Linux platform environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing software in a structured, process‑based integrated team environment.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing configuration management tools in the development of software (e.g., Git/Gitlab/etc.).
  • Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as system requirements, use cases, and SysML diagrams.
  • Security+ or equivalent certification may be required within 60 days of starting.
  • Must currently hold an active DoD Final Secret Security Clearance to be considered for this position.
Desired Skills
  • Missile Defense Domain experience.
  • Design and development of real‑time Java applications.
  • Developing new capabilities into a legacy software system.
  • Development of complex mathematical algorithms from design documents.
  • SW analysis against performance requirements.
  • Resolving cyber/security issues identified by Fortify/Sonar Qube/etc.
  • Maven or Gradle.
  • Automated unit testing frameworks.
Security Clearance Statement
