Senior Software & Platform Engineer – Secure Modeling and Simulation

We are seeking a Senior Software & Platform Engineer to support the development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of a secure modeling and simulation platform for Department of Defense customers in Huntsville, AL .

This is a senior individual-contributor role focused on hands‑on engineering across software, platform integration, Dev Sec Ops , verification, documentation, and sustainment. The successful candidate will work closely with program, engineering, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teammates to deliver reliable and secure capabilities in a government contracting environment.

This position requires an active Secret clearance and onsite work.

• Translate customer objectives and technical requirements into executable engineering tasks, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables.
• Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines and release workflows for software, containerized components, and deployment configuration.
• Develop and integrate secure software and platform services using C++ and Python .
• Package and deploy applications in containerized environments and troubleshoot related runtime, networking, storage, and access issues.
• Support secure DoD Dev Sec Ops  practices, including code quality checks, security scanning, configuration management, and release readiness.
• Design, implement, and maintain automated tests for unit, integration, regression, and system‑level verification.
• Diagnose software, integration, and performance issues across application, platform, and messaging layers.
• Produce clear technical documentation, including guides, design materials, integration notes, test evidence, and release artifacts.
• Participate in code reviews, technical reviews, risk discussions, and coordination across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Contribute to AI‑enabled workflows that improve engineering analysis, knowledge management, or documentation support.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience developing software in C++ and Python .
• Experience supporting software integration, platform engineering, Dev Sec Ops , or modeling and simulation environments.
• Experience with containerized application deployments and Linux‑based development or runtime environments.
• Experience developing or maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated test workflows.
• Experience with secure software development practices and remediation of code‑quality or security findings.
  
  Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document technical work clearly.
• Active Secret security clearance.
• Security + Certification

• Experience supporting Department of Defense or other government contracting programs.
• Experience with Kubernetes, container registries, or secure multi‑tenant platform environments.
• Experience with distributed applications, message‑driven systems, or simulation software integration.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and technical troubleshooting tools.
• Experience with AI‑assisted engineering workflows, analytics, or technical knowledge management.
