Mid Level Systems Engineer

The Tactical Software and Autonomy Solutions (TSAS) team at i3 supports DoD customers in developing cutting‑edge autonomy software architectures to distribute autonomous control across a diverse assortment of uncrewed air, ground, surface, and subsurface platforms. The team is seeking a Systems Engineer with 5+ years of professional experience to embed with a software development team, assisting with the development of requirements and artifacts, and performing extensive testing of software and systems in development.

This is a new project leveraging modern tools to track, develop, deploy, and test software development projects.

• Develop and maintain standardized, testable requirements based on customer and collaborator input.
• Responsible for testing and documentation associated with developing software applications.
• Willing to work within cloud‑based infrastructure and tooling.
• Perform demonstrations and interface with customers to ensure product meets end customer goals.
• Attend test events and generate test artifacts.
• Support software development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Have a Bachelor’s degree (or advanced degree) from an accredited college (ABET preferred) in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or the hard sciences with 5 years of experience.
• Team player who is creative, adaptive, and excited to learn.
• Experience with writing technical requirements.
• Experience writing and executing test plans.
• Familiarity with Agile Scrum development methodology and associated tools.
• Must have or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance or higher.

• Familiarity with documentation tools such as Texmaker and PlantUML.
• Experience with a configuration‑management software tool.
• Familiarity with DoD‑typical requirement structures.
• Experience conducting test and integration events.
• Experience supporting field demonstrations.
• Basic networking and troubleshooting techniques.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure.
• Familiarity with drones and/or RC planes, boats, or ground vehicles.
