Algorithm SW Engineer

Role Overview

As a member of the Regional Applications Agile Release Train (ART) of the Missile Defense National Team for Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2

BMC), this position will contribute to generating software design artifacts and implementing Java-based software changes. The role involves supporting design and code reviews, software testing, and the resolution of issues that arise from testing. The candidate will be involved in the presentation of developed designs and will actively participate in agile planning and execution using established processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Generate software design artifacts and implement Java-based software changes.
• Support design and code reviews.
• Participate in software testing and resolve issues identified during testing.
• Present developed designs to stakeholders.
• Actively participate in agile planning and execution.
• Work with multiple disciplinary teams, including Systems Engineering, Integration and Test, and Deployment.

Required Qualifications

Experience:

1+ years of related experience.

Technical

Skills:

• Experience in full life-cycle development.
• Java application development or alternate object-oriented development experience.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
• Experience with software implementation of mathematical algorithms.
• Basic experience in the design and development of complex mathematical algorithms.
• Experience with problem-solving, including the ability to review system behavior issues, identify the root cause, and recommend a solution.

General

Skills:

• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of developing software within an agile development process, including work decomposition and leadership during sprint planning.
• Experience developing software and/or algorithms in a structured, process-based integrated team environment.
• Knowledge of developing software within a DEVSECOPS framework for Java-based applications in a Unix/Linux platform environment.
• Additional experience with MATLAB.
