The goal of the Department of Parks & Recreation is to provide opportunities for recreation to all citizens regardless of family structure, income, gender, or ethnic origin. The department is committed to provide wholesome family entertainment, a continual program of citywide events and the opportunity to achieve full recreational experiences through individual, team and family activities.

This is professional work in supervising and coordinating recreation, community service, large-scale tournaments, activities and events. Work involves responsibility for planning, implementing, promoting and coordinating recreation, community service, league tournaments, activities and events at a large community center. Work also involves planning and scheduling recreation facilities to include the pickleball, volleyball and basketball courts, and for overseeing operations and maintenance. Work involves accounting for revenue generated from facility rental fees and large-scale league tournaments.

Work requires frequent contact with community leaders, various civic groups, nationwide coaches and teams, and parents. Supervision is exercised over a staff of recreation employees.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and five years’ experience in the administration of recreation programs; or any combination of education, training and experience.

• Valid Driver’s License.
