The Dispatcher role at 256 Trucking LLC is a full-time, on-site position based in Huntsville, AL. The Dispatcher will manage daily truck schedules of our Flatbed, Step Deck, and Landoll assets, assign loads, and coordinate routes to ensure timely and safe delivery of specialized freight. Typical responsibilities include monitoring driver locations, updating load statuses, handling incoming calls and messages from drivers and customers, and resolving scheduling or routing issues as they arise.

The role also involves maintaining accurate records in dispatch systems, communicating load details and instructions, and collaborating with operations and safety teams to meet service standards and regulatory requirements. The Dispatcher is expected to support drivers, maintain strong customer communication, and contribute to efficient, cost-effective fleet utilization.

• Experience in dispatching, transportation coordination, or logistics operations, preferably in freight or trucking.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple routes, drivers, and customer requests simultaneously.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including clear phone and email communication with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
• Comfort with computer-based dispatch systems, GPS tracking tools, and basic office software (e.g., spreadsheets, email, data entry).
• Ability to analyze routing options, anticipate delays, and make quick, sound decisions to adjust schedules and loads.
• Customer service mindset, with a focus on professionalism, problem-solving, and maintaining positive relationships.
• Knowledge of basic transportation regulations, safety practices, and driver hour-of-service considerations is beneficial.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or education in logistics, supply chain, or transportation is a plus.
• Ability to work on-site in Huntsville, AL, with reliable attendance and flexibility for operational needs.
