Overview
Minimum 2.5 GPA is required to apply. Student Office Assistants (SA) must work together professionally to ensure office coverage during regular business hours (M-F, 8-5). Twenty (20) hours per week is preferred, but individual schedules may vary from 18-28 hours depending on student and department needs. The Teaching & Learning Center is seeking to hire a Student Office Assistant (SA). The SA is responsible for greeting visitors with a smile and answering a variety of questions about TLC programs, and for adhering to department and institution policies.
Training, feedback, and professional development will be consistently provided by the department.
- Greet and assist visitors and callers in a friendly, professional manner; answer routine questions about the department and university, or refer individuals to the appropriate resource
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of shared spaces, including the reception area, conference room, and break room
- Perform general office tasks such as data entry, photocopying, filing, and creating/distributing documents, forms, and correspondence
- Assist with updates and content management for the TLC website
- Manage conference room reservations and scheduling
- Monitor and organize office supply inventory and program materials
- Support preparation of materials and presentations for departmental events and meetings
- Assist with event logistics, including setup, teardown, and onsite support during faculty programs, workshops, and other events
- Collaborate with staff on special projects and initiatives
- Provide administrative support for TLC programs, including organizing and filing documents, creating and processing applications, tracking submissions, and assisting in email correspondence
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Familiarity with university campus operations and services
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information
- Willingness to learn and adapt (growth mindset)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Proactive attitude with the ability to identify and address issues without being prompted
