Nature & Purpose of PositionThe Bearkat VITA Center is part of the Internal Revenue Service’s VITA program. Utilizing IRS‑certified volunteers, we provide free income tax preparation and filing services to students, employees, and area residents who generally make $58,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and limited English‑speaking taxpayers.
This will be an administrative position that assists the Site Coordinator with site operations, staffing, and community outreach. The Center is located in the Smith‑Hutson Building (College of Business Administration).
General Duties- Reviewing and securing confidential taxpayer data.
- Assisting with scheduling appointments for VITA clients via phone and email.
- Verifying all volunteers have completed the requisite training and signed the proper IRS forms.
- Administrative support: copying, sending emails, answering and returning phone calls, creating name tags, and internet research.
- Adhere to all VITA Center and IRS policies.
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Ability to communicate and interact with volunteers and clients.
- Basic Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
- Well organized.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- No prior knowledge of income tax preparation or accounting is required.
