Nature & Purpose of Position:This role will support Campus Activities and Involvement under the guidance of the Director. The Graduate Assistant play a vital role in the operations of the Department of Campus Activities & Involvement and involves the following responsibilities:
- Work daily inside BearkatHQ, our student organization and event management platform.
- Monitor Ultimate Bearkat submissions, student organization inquiries, student organization marketing requests, etc.
- Greet visitors (students, faculty, staff, alumni, student orgs, etc.) and direct them to the appropriate location or person.
- Answer all department emails in our shared inbox and assist with all inquiries that come into that mailbox.
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries in a professional manner.
- Sort and distribute mail and packages.
- Assist Admin Coordinator with office supplies, event supplies, promo materials, kitchen supplies, etc.
- Assist with various administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and scanning.
- Run on-campus and off-campus errands as required.
- Be a reliable source of information about the organization and department for visitors.
- Table at department fairs or other on-campus fair events.
- Be willing to do public speaking and recruitment.
- Maintain a positive, upbeat, and professional attitude when interacting with others.
- Attend training, retreats, and other professional development opportunities to improve skills.
- Additional duties may be assigned as necessary to support the team.
The Graduate Assistant is a key leadership role responsible for cultivating a welcoming community environment that fosters a sense of belonging and contributes to student success. This individual will champion initiatives designed to attract and retain a larger student population at SHSU events by engaging with all or another word areas of campus and ensuring that all students feel valued and represented.
The Graduate Assistant is a key leadership role responsible for information distribution, brand management, feedback collection, internal communications, and documentation.
