Nature & Purpose Of PositionThe position of Orientation Leader is seasonal and an integral part of the success of the Orientation Program at Sam Houston State University. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the planning and implementation of the Orientation programs
- Act as a resource to incoming students and parents by sharing information about a variety of aspects regarding the Sam Houston community
- Initiate and develop communication with students and family members attending Orientation
- Work with faculty, staff, and administrators to facilitate the success of all aspects of the Orientation program
- Serve as a representative of Sam Houston in a variety of situations
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Visitor Services full‑time staff
- Must be enrolled for the Spring 2026, as a full‑time student, working towards a Bachelor’s Degree
- Must currently have and maintain a 2.0 grade point average
- Must not have any pending disciplinary actions in the Dean of Students’ Office
- Orientation Leaders must not enroll in more than 6 total credit hours for Summer 2025, only online courses are acceptable
- Must reside in Huntsville during the summer (summer housing provided upon request)
- Must attend all Orientation sessions and Orientation Leader training sessions. Training sessions will be held weekly during the Spring semester (schedule TBD based on availability)
- Must be able to meet the following physical demands during Orientation Events – standing for long periods of time, lifting equipment/supplies, and navigating across campus with large groups of guests.
- Summer housing is available upon request if needed
